This beautifully renovated 18th century Irish country house has been in the same family since 1910. It is a totally gorgeous luxury self-catering home on a large, private and peaceful stretch of land in close proximity to the breathtaking scenery of County Clare, including the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren National Park.

Accommodating 10 in 5 bedrooms with flexible bedding arrangements (choice of one King or two Twins in two bedrooms), this Georgian period house offers so many of the sweet details that make for a rich and perfect holiday, from comfortable furnishings, gourmet kitchen and handsome antiques, to internet, satellite television, and a games station, as well as luxurious linens and impressive artwork adorning the walls.

The tasteful decor pays homage to the history of the house and to the area, with rich, warm colors and thoughtful details in each room. This private estate is a perfect spot for weddings, celebrations or casual reunions, a terrific spot to spend a holiday with a central location in Ireland’s west, that makes it an excellent choice for touring Clare, Galway, and Limerick, as well as the rolling hills of nearby interior Irish counties and the more distant seaside villages along the Atlantic.

The ground floor features both the spacious and casual eat-in kitchen, as well as the large formal dining room, two bedrooms, bathroom and a guest powder room.

Enter through the front door into a vestibule with black and white checked floors and a comfortable seating nook under windows next to a grand grandfather clock. To the left is the large formal dining room, to the right a spacious sitting room.

SITTING ROOM
Featuring two comfortable sofas, three easy chairs and moveable footstools, the sitting room furniture is covered in soft floral fabrics. A fireplace, Persian rug, piano, tall secretary and antique tables sit atop pint floor and glow in the light from two wall wood-shuttered windows. Wonderful old books, drawings and paintings adorn the room.

DINING ROOM
The formal dining room is quite large, with an antique oak table and 10 chairs, sideboard and an Edwardian chest. The room also features two glass covered bookcases and a great fireplace, with rich red walls and pine flooring.

EAT IN KITCHEN
At the end of the hall to the left is a large eat-in kitchen, a real feature and gathering place in this wonderfully welcoming house for rent in Clare. This extra-large and thoughtfully designed addition to the house ends up being a gathering place for large groups and families, with space for kids to play or watch the telly, dining table to sit down and snack, and a well-layed out and very spacious kitchen with an original Aga stove as well as a conventional gas stove with two electric overs, microwave, dishwasher, two refrigerator/freezers & a washer and dryer.

A center island has a sink and three tall chairs, perfect for chatting during meal preparation or enjoying a cup of coffee with the paper early in the morning. Black granite counter tops and oak cupboards line the room.

At the back of the kitchen sits a casual dining area with a lovely oak table, 10 chairs, comfy sofa, flat screen TV, DVD player and a Wii, as well as a rocking chair. French doors open to the patio and back garden and out tot he woods.

The patio is nicely furnished with a barbeque and outdoor furniture for casual dining and hanging out.

GROUND FLOOR BEDROOMS
The house has two lovely bedrooms on the ground floor.

The Liscannor Bedroom has a King bed, antique bedside tables, armoire and a vanity. The walls are a soft lavender. The room faces out to the patio and the garden. Bathroom facilities are located in the adjacent wheelchair accessible bathroom with universal access wet shower. It is a lovely and comfortable bathroom, not at all clinical like some accessible shower rooms can be.

The Bunratty Bedroom is situated at the end of the hall, with a King bed that be split into two twin beds on request, and many lovely antiques. The room has a fireplace and two occasional chairs, and enjoys wonderful morning sunshine. A walk-in dressing room leads to the en suite bathroom. The room decor features unique regional maps dating to the 1890’s.

Upstairs the country house near Corofin offers three unique bedrooms, including a King en-suite master bedroom (that can be switched to two Twin beds if needed) and two long light filled twin rooms, as well as a shared hallway bathroom.

The Burren Bedroom is a large master bedroom, bright and airy, with a King bed (or two Twin beds) and terrific views to the east and the west. There is a fireplace, two armcharies, armoire, chest of drawers and a small vanity. The en suite bathroom has a shower stall.

The Clifden Bedroom has extra long twin beds, snugly fit at the end of the long narrow room, with views out to Clifden Hill, the lake and the woodland gardens below. Antiques, a small fireplace, Persian rug, an occasional chair and small book case help make the cozy room even more homey.

The Lahinch Bedroom is similar in size and decor to the Clifden Bedroom, with two extra long twin beds at one end, vanity, armoire and a fireplace, Persian rug and chest of drawers.

The Lahinch and Clifden bedrooms share a large hallway bathroom with deep freestanding soaking tub and separate shower stall.

Five bedrooms, each unique and wonderful in their own way, two on the ground floor with universal access bathroom, three upstairs including one en-suite and two sharing a central bath off the upstairs hall.

Liscannor Bedroom (ground floor): Large King bed, adjacent accessible bathroom.

Bunratty Bedroom (ground floor): Large room, choice of one King or two Twin beds, fireplace, lots of light, en-suite bathroom with shower stall.

Hallway Bathroom (ground floor): Nicely tiled bathroom with wet shower, wheelchair accessible.

Burren Bedroom (upstairs): Large master bedroom, King or Twins, en-suite bathroom with shower.

Clifden Bedroom (upstairs): Narrow room with two Twin beds, antique furniture and nice views. Shares hallway bathroom.

Lahinch Bedroom (upstairs): Narrow room with two Twin beds, antique furniture and views. Shares hallway bathroom.

Hallway Bathroom (upstairs): Large bathroom with soaking tub and separate shower stall.

This historic, comfortable, old-world holiday property sits on a beautiful piece of land, surrounded by woodlands and fields out to the Burren landscape, Inchiquin Lough and the Atlantic ocean beyond.  It is very private, on 100 acres, lacking close neighbors and very peaceful.

There is a furnished side patio with barbeque and occasional seating, plus a very sweet children’s playhouse furnished with darling toys for little ones to enjoy.

This vacation rental home is in terrific position for touring County Clare, Limerick and Galway, perhaps parts of County Kerry and County Cork on a longer day (and  with some of the best scenery in Ireland, why not?).  The house is positioned close to some of Ireland best national treasures like the lunar landscapes of the Burren and a Wonders-of-the-World candidate, the Cliffs of Moher. There are several 18-hole golf courses within half hours drive of the house, including the World Class course at Lahinch. The gorgeous beaches of Clare and Galway are close, as is Inchiquin Lough, all with boating, fishing and watersports to enjoy.
