We’ve visited this perfect, comfortable, spacious self-catering holiday home in Dingle twice, and will return again in the fall. We love it. A former fisherman’s cottage, it has been remodeled and made much larger than it appears from the outside. With a wide expanse of lush grass reaching out to the seaside cliffs, the views of the water and the short walk down to a small beach make this a great place for dreamers and adventurers alike. The light through the floor-to-ceiling windows is gorgeous, and even on a gray brooding day,* the house feels cheerful.

LIVING ROOM

Three blue suede sofas gather around the stacked rock fireplace. Matching easy chairs face large sliding glass windows out to the small cliffside and the water below.

The large, high ceilinged space is open and inviting, with easy connection between both the combined kitchen dining area and the television room.

SITTING ROOM/TV ROOM

Adjacent to the living room through glass doors is a TV room that can remain open for accommodating a large group, or can be closed off for quiet and privacy. Those who may wish to read by the fire won’t have to be disturbed by others who would prefer a little television viewing on their relaxing holiday by the sea.

KITCHEN

The large eat-in kitchen is lovely and functional. A large light wood table easily seats 8, and there is a small bar/countertop area behind the table for breakfast coffee, feeding early birds, or laying out a buffet feast.

With plenty of countertop space, excellent fixtures and service items, it is a great place for groups to cook and dine together, while feasting their eyes on the views to the hills through one window and out to sea through the other.

The washer and dryer are in a hall/utility room off the entrance.

BEDROOMS/BATHROOMS

Ground Floor: Master Queen Bedroom, en suite.

Upstairs: King Bedroom (can be two Twin beds instead), en suite.

King Bedroom & (smaller) Double Bedroom, share a bathroom.

The master bedroom is on the ground floor beyond the living room. It has a Queen bed and an en-suite tiled bathroom with a shower, as well as a large dressing room, private patio area and gorgeous views.

The other 3 bedrooms are upstairs, past the balcony that overlooks the living room below.

One bedroom has a double iron-frame bed, and though smaller than the others, offers a lot of storage in the chest of drawers and other furnishings.

Another bedroom boasts a King bed and views to the water.  These two rooms share a tiled bathroom with skylights and a shower-over-tub.

Down the hall is another beautiful viewed King bedroom with a bed that can convert to two twins if needed. This room has a small en suite bathroom with a skylight and a shower.

*since it was indeed a gray brooding day when we last visited, these are the owner’s photos.

Location

The property lies just on the outskirts West of Dingle town and is walkable by one of two routes, either cliff-side (GORGEOUS!) in about 20 or 30 minutes, or on the main roads in about 35 or 40 minutes. (Best to leave the walking to the daylight hours – the area roads are not well lit at night and there is very extra little shoulder.)

Shannon Airport: 108 miles, approximately 2.5 hours

Cork: 93 miles, at least 2 – 2.5 hours

Dublin: 212-240 miles depending on the route, 4 – 4.5 hours (Note: we don’t recommend trying to drive this in one day whether you’ve just landed in Dublin from an overnight flight or not).
